Consider Others

Ìwé awọn Àgbàlagbà (Elders’ Book)

Ìwé awọn Àgbàlagbà (Elders’ Book) ori kẹta ẹsẹ ogún wipe, ẹnìkan kì í jẹ kílẹ ó fẹ

Translation

Elders’ Book chapter 3 verse 20 says, one should not over-eat (one should not be a glutton)

Application

The elders’ book is just a way of adding flavor to the Yoruba word.

This is a proverb that is used to curb the greediness of some people, that such a one should consider others.

If all of us could be mindful of others, the world would be a wonderful place to live in, but because of the greediness of some people the world is as it is. This proverb could be said by people on noticing the greedy lifestyle of some people, it could be said by people in the same group or cult when they see that someone, perhaps a leader wants to betray them or she or he has actually been betraying them, they will utter this proverb to warn him/her of what she or he is doing with the hope that the person would retrace his or her steps and stop his or her greedy acts.
