Lovers Story: Samson And Debbie 1

Lovers Story: Brother Samson and Sister Debbie 1

(Writer’s Note: I have seen that there are many stories about love for the unbelievers, I mean those who do not accept Jesus Christ into their lives as Lord and savior and I think people think believers, Christians too are neither fallen in love, nor can love like the people of the world, and I have found this to be untrue as well as short-changing believers. We, believers also have blood flowing through us, therefore we also fall in love and demonstrated real love, even better than the unbelievers. To make this known to people, that is why I have decided to write a Christian related love story for believers in my area, and I think believers in other continents too could benefit from this work. The names used in the story are essentially pseudonyms not real names. All in the write-up is essentially fiction. Thank you)

Three storey building

A three storey building with 22 rooms in all and two shops at the ground floor is seen. In this old building lives young guys and ladies, three of whom are bachelor and spinsters.

Six of the inhabitants of this building are legally married, they are couples. Each of these couples lives in each o the floors of the building. The recently married couple, is living in a room on the third floor with his wife while the couple on the ground floor lives in two rooms, one of the rooms is used as parlor while the second is used as bedroom.

The two rooms face each other. It is in this bedroom that they carved a portion where they put their cupboard in which they keep their soups, food supplements and ingredients and their pots. Very close to this cupboard is about four plastics in which foods are kept. Next section to this is an earthen pot where drinking water is kept. The water poured into earthen pot is usually cold.

This is the ancient practice by the people of the polyglot island. Despite technological growth in the republic of Shebotimoh some young people still use earthen pots as their means of making water cold, primarily because of poverty that is rampant in the island, and some because they are yet to severe their umbilical cords from the ancient lifestyles of their parents from which they have been born and bred.

Clay pot used as "coolant"

Both reasons are likely to be alluded to the reason why Agbalagba and his wife is yet using earthen pot to store and make their water cold. Their marriage is thirty-six months old, they are yet looking unto God for a child. It is not that they are barren, no they are not, because the wife has taken in twice, but shortly after the first trimester, the pregnancy got aborted. It is not unlikely from the appearance of Mrs Agbalagba not to have taken in now.

Very close to where there bed is, is a furniture rack nailed to the wall where they used to hang their cloths and on it they keep their shoes. Their remaining properties are kept under the metal bed on which they sleep on.

The third couple is Mosunmoba and his family. This family occupies the three first rooms to the left when one climbs the stairs to the middle floor. The first room is the parlor while the second room is the bedroom for Mosunmoba and his wife and the third room is for their children. The youngest of the children is 5 years old while the oldest is thirteen years old. They are two males and two females. The first and the last child are males.

From the history of those living in the building the family of Mosunmoba seems to be the oldest people living in the building now, because it was few days to Mosunmoba’s wedding that he rented the two rooms where he married his wife to. Only recently did he rent the third room when the lady there got married.

The lady that got married who left the room where Mosunmoba’s children are now occupying id lady Kerty. She has been occupying the room since she started teaching at a private primary school nearby the building. It was after she secured the job with the private school that she rented the apartment. Six months after moving into the building guy Keley who is an electrician and lady Kerty become romantically involved and about 10 weeks ago they formalized everything by a traditional wedding. After this, lady Kerty left her room and move to the third floor where her hubby lives.

Three of the inhabitants of this building, 2 females and a male are the singles living in the building, others a living a single-married life-style, co-inhabiting their rooms. This is the new trend amongst many of the youths of today in the republic of Shebotimoh. This kind of living is called a trial by error marriage, if it works they stay together but if nay they get separated after all they are yet to pay the bride price. Some religion leaders in the republic of Shebotimoh frown at this calling it a civilized way of prostitution and another means of destroying the strong moral fiber of the republic which all stake holders need to protect at all cost. But I doubt if many of the youths see it that way except for those who have been brought up by sound moral parents and who have imprinted this into their hearts that such is not good.

The only male among those who are singly living in this house is brother Samson.

Brother Samson

Brother Samson is a Christian who claimed that his mother was the person God used to lead him to Jesus Christ when he was few days from clocking 13 years of age. At this time he was yet in secondary school. After becoming saved, he did not take him time to be fully integrated into the Fellowship of the Christian Students’ in his secondary school. He was actively involved in the Christian programs in his school and in his parent’s church.

Samson was averagely brilliant in secondary school and it was not surprising that he made all the required papers to proceed to institution of higher learning in the republic at the credit level (or grade). It was however not easy for him to secure admission into university in the polyglot island. After his third entrance examination attempt with a low score, he was advised to go in for Advance Studies, a two-year course. His grade in the Advance Level examination was not good, thus he couldn’t use the A Level result to enter into University.

The ninth year after finishing from secondary school he attempted the university entrance examination again and he made it, he was admitted into the course of his choice Sociology.

It was not difficult for him to be associated with the campus brethren because some of those with whom he has been fellowshipping with when in secondary school and when he went for A Level course were those leading the University campus fellowships.

Meanwhile before he secures admission into the University, he joined a fledgling Christian ministry called Global Bible Church. The ministry is situated at the outskirts of Polyglot island. Every last Sunday of the month the church used to hold her monthly prayer and fasting and brother Samson will be there to fellowship with them as well as to assist the Pastor and founder of the church who after a while made brother Samson his assistant. Though brother Samson may not be able to attend the midweek programs but he will be at the end of the month prayer and fasting program and would return to his campus the following day, Monday.

He graduated at the age of 29 years and proceeded to do the mandatory service to the republic of Shebotimoh with his colleagues from other institutions of higher learning for one year.

After the mandatory service to his country, he started applying for jobs within the republic. Four years after graduation he secured an employment with a privately owned venture called Majemamu ventures. He was employed as one of her sales representatives. Two years into this job he took ill, he was on sick bed in his parent’s house where he was living for four weeks. Before his full recovery, the company he was working with has employed another staff to replace him. He was again thrown into the labor market.

He started traveling here and there for job again, when he checked his account balance he discovered that 65% of his savings is already gone into traveling here and there in search for job. When he discovered this, he decided that he needs to look beyond seeking for jobs and start something from what he has left.

Brother Samson who is the first child of the three children that his parents’ give birth “said to himself that, I need to do something fast to move myself forward and should stop looking for jobs”.

Parent’s Background

His parents who co-incidentally were the only child in their parent’s hands were not rich, their lifestyle could be considered to be below average in the society they were living in.

His father’s parent’s did not give birth to other children apart from his father, Adurayomi. It was after Adurayomi’s father embraced Jesus that they gave birth to Adurayomi. They named him Adurayomi to show that they got him by prayers.

Parents

This however was not so for samson’s mother, Laka. Laka’s parents gave birth to 3 children before her but they all died due to infectious disease that became epidemic in their island. It was after this that they gave birth to Laka. After Laka they also gavce birth to two other children but they died before getting to age one. After this they did not give birth to any child again. They therefore started praying that the child lives long and outlive them.

Laka desires to go to school, but there was no wherewithal to send her to school. One of her mother’s cousin visited her parent and promised to send Laka to school if she can be allowed to go with her to Riverine Island. Because Laka’s parent’s also want her to go to school as her heart desires, they have no hesitation in releasing her to the woman, but unknown to them that the woman was lying.

Laka was 20 years old when she was taken away by her cousin but she did not enroll her into any school, she kept promising her, lying to her. After 15 years that she has been serving the woman, she decided to do something about her life, thence she fled the woman’s place to another island where she would eventually met with her husband, Mr. Adurayomi, when she was 40 years old she got married to the man.

Adurayomi because of the financial position of his parents decided that he will not get marry until he makes it. He started struggling, hustling but nothing changed. When he was 53 years old, he decided to get marry and that was when he met Laka. They dated for 8 months after which they formalized everything, got married.

God had mercy on them, for within 4 years they have had 3 children and Samson was the first child. After giving birth to their last child, a female, christened Elizabeth who is commonly called Lizzy by friends, Adurayomi’s father in the village sent for him.

When Adurayomi got to his parent’s in the village, his father handed over his cassava plantation unto him, officially he told his servants who were taken care of the farm to be reporting to him. The money they made that year was handed to Adurayomi. His father told him that he has taken the portion he needed out of it and that he should go and build a house where he lives, for he believes that the money he has given him would be enough to build a small house for him and his family.

Adurayomi was lost of words when he saw what his father has done. He thanked them. Soon enough he was on his way back to where he lives.

Just as his father has advised, he built his house that year within six months. The remaining money he used to cater for the need of his family as well as set up a small business for Laka his wife. That is how the family of Adurayomi kept themselves. Adurayomi”s parent’s after this died. After the burial, Fulani herdsmen and their cattle enter into the farm plantation and destroyed it, killing some of the servants while the others fled.

Brother Samson in Business

Samson started thinking about what he will venture into, about what he will do with the amount left on him, “age is not on my side, I need to act fast”, he said to no one but himself.

He started praying about this, opening his eyes to see and started thinking. He also told his prayer group members of the need to join him in prayer in knowing which business he should venture into.

Brother Samson as he is popularly called after his service to the republic of Shebotimoh decided to form a prayer group. He told some of his friends and some young Christian brothers and sisters that he knew of what has been boiling in his heart. Few of those people told including his siblings supported the move and they joined him. They started off in his room at his father’s house, but when they were seeing more people, they looked for a neutral place to be using. The gotten neutral place is a missionary primary school playing ground. They soon named the place “Open Zion”. They used to meet at this place for prayer every Tuesday between 6:00 and 7:00 pm their local time.

He did not invite members of the church to which he was attending into the prayer group because he does not want to cause chaos among the brethren. Some founders would see that as a means of taken their members away that was why he did not invite any of them, but they soon hear of the program afterwards and few ones from the church were seen attending his prayer meeting.

Brother Samson and his team arrived at the day after serious deliberations because he did not want to infringe on the rights of others as well as their days of service in their local assemblies.

In the prayer group they were seeing the hands of God and people were testifying to the good hands of God on their lives, families, businesses, academics, marriages and so on.

Some thought soon enough brother Samson will turn the prayer meeting into a full blown church but he told all that he is yet to have a burden for something like that in his heart. In the meanwhile, he plead with them that they should join him in praying about a job.

They were in the Open Zion when one of the prayer members told him that he saw an advert placed by Majemamu ventures that he should try the place. He applied to the place and he was employed. The people’s spirits were lifted when they discovered that their prayer leader has secured a job. Others who have been trusting God for one thing or another for a while whose hopes have been down rekindled their hopes again, and soon, some of them also receive answers to their hearts desires and petitions from God.

This development spurs them into telling others about the program and the prayer venue started growing on a weekly basis. Things continued like this until brother Samson took ill which resulted in him losing his job.

While on the sick bed, brother Johahana stepped into the leadership position of the group, brother Johahana is a barber, married with two children. His wife has just finished from college of Education, seeking for job.

Brother Johahana and other brethren continued to meet for prayer as before and they were also committing their leader into God’s hands for quick recovery.

When he got well and he was laid off the job, brother Samson considers the incident as the work of God, because everything works together for the good of those who love god as said by apostle Paul the author of the book of Romans in the twenty-eighth verse of the eight chapter. Before a man closes a door, God would have opened several others for his children, all that his children needs to do is open their eyes and enter into the new place opened for them, he told his prayer group members.

One midnight while praying and meditating he discovered that his savings remained 35% that was when he decided to stop seeking for job and start thinking about what business he can start doing.

He told his prayer partners when they met that they should join him in prayers so that God would lead him a right on what he should start selling.

After 6 months that they have been putting the matter into prayers on what he should start doing, like a gentle flowing river did it cross his mind one day that he could set up a shop where he would be selling cassette and discs. The world is changing from old cassette and albums to discs now due to computer introduction and technology change. He closely observed that there is no one yet in his area who is into that kind of business.

Barber

When he met some members of his praying team he told them what has been laid in his heart and one of them Ejireh told him that if that is what he wants to do his father has a friend who has been in the business of selling cassette and albums for a while that he will contact him to discuss with him that he has a Christian brother who is interested in the business. If he agrees that you should come to him, which I know he will, you can learn one or two things from him before starting off.

Brother Samson was happy to hear this and he believes he is on the right course asking Ejireh to make the contact so that he will go to the man to learn from him as soon as possible.

Ejireh contacted the man and he said there is no problem that he should bring the person to him. Ejireh and brother Samson when to the man who was happy to see them but surprised that a graduate could think along that line.
