Means of God Speaking to Humans

God speaks through divers means to individual persons and humans collectively because he loves us. I would want us to see one of the means of him speaking to us in this article.

Through Others: As the people of the world begin to reproduce and multiply on the face of the earth, people begin to become standard for others. In other words the way of living of a man that seems right, God would approve that and would be expecting that others nigh him would copy such and would be acting like he was doing.

Through the standard of others as approved by God, he continues to deal with man. Let us see what apostle Paul says of this standard in the book of Romans.

“For there is no respect of persons with God.

“For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

“(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

“For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

“Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)” (Rom 2:11-15)

These people were without law, they were without definite way of worshiping God, they cannot say this means of worshipping God is the acceptable format. But through the life style of others nigh by, they are expected to be following such and thence become approved of God and God would be dealing and communing with them in that wise.

May I chip this in, what apostle Paul is saying here, answers what many of us who comes from idolatry setting used to ask from preachers, because we are often concerned about our fore parents and would ask what form of judgment would God mete out to them knowing that Jesus Christ has not come to the world during their days or better put that Christianity has not reached our area then.

They would be judged by the standard of the people who were morally upright during their days. Because God expects them to follow the footsteps of those people in showing love to their neighbors because when they do that, they are also showing that they believe there is God who would repay them back.

Some other examples that I would like to show us to corroborate this are beneath.

- Noah: Through Noah before the first world was destroyed God has been talking to people even before he was called to start preaching to them. He has been talking to them through his conducts that was different from how others were riotously living in the first world but they would not listen and then God decides to give him the mandate to officially talk to them maybe by that they would repent but they did not. (Gen 6:8-9)

- Through Friends: Haman has not been happy with Mordechai in Shushan the palace because he did not kowtow to him like others. He made inquiries into the race from which Mordechai came from and discovered that he was a Jew and he considered it a small thing to kill Mordechai alone, thence he asks for order to get all the Jews executed (genocide). Because he has been exalted to high position he could get the King to sign-off on that easily, and it was passed into law. (Est 3:5-15)

After this he consulted with his wife and friends on what to do for Mordechai when he was to be killed and they counseled him to make a gallows of about fifty cubits where Mordechai would be hanged.

Naomi and Ruth

Albeit, God intervene on the issue and things changed, however, before Hamman was killed his friends have told him that he would be killed because of what they were seeing.

“And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.” (Est 6:13)

Through them God speaks to Haman of what would become of him soon.

- Through In-Laws: Ruth insisted on following his mother in-law to his country, and when he got there, through Naomi she was talked to by God of what he has in plan for her. (Rut 3:1) Lot also talked to his in-laws but they would not yield to his words (Gen 19:14)

- Through Harlot: Rahab the harlot was used by God to speak to the people of Jericho before being destroyed but when they rejected this, he entered into agreement with the spies and saved her family. (Jos 2 & 6:17)

- Through Unmarried People: The woman who met Jesus by the well of Jacob has not experienced joy in her marriage. After discovering whom Jesus was she went into the city to talk to the people of Samaria about Jesus being the messiah that they have all been expecting. (Joh 4)

She expressed her love to the people by telling them about the Christ and they embraced the love she has shown unto them by going to Jesus to confirm what she said.

- Through Strangers: God spoke through Joseph and Daniel when they were in strange lands of what the Lord wanted to do. (Gen 41 & Dan 2)

Through these means, conscience and other people, God does speak to people of the world then and now. I will continue with other means in the next article.
