Momentum of Faith: Faith Walks
What I want to share here in relationship to faith is what I call momentum of faith. Momentum according to dictionary is defined as the ability to keep increasing or developing and the scientists defined it as a force that is gained by movement, it is measured by multiplying speed by mass, thus it is called scalar quantity.
What I have in mind bringing to our knowledge here is that, a person of faith does not stay at a place like a dam of water, even some dam of water are being converted by engineers to produce electricity for cities.
As a believer in Jesus Christ, we do not have to stay at a place and be expecting everything to come to us there when we are not imprisoned. A person of faith is a person that walks to where he would achieve his or her goals.
The walking here, is putting things to work for you and may not necessarily mean activity of changing our position like exercise, from one place to another which walking means.
I said this because the recent development in the technological world which has introduced work and earn from home for authors and bloggers, and of course for the recent sorry case in the world as per health issues in which we have seen corona virus which has made some countries to shut down several schooling activities, and create avenue for the implementation and the use of webinar, webcam and others for instructing their pupils and students at home this, I termed to walking, because where those are they would at least leave the comforts of their beds and walk to where they would be connected and even if they would be listening to the tutoring from their beds, they would still do something to make their phones comfortable for the use.
Thus, as a person of faith, after praying, telling the Lord what you want him to do for you, you would take some steps to see that such is actualized.
We read of an account of a widow in the bible who believes in Yahweh with her hubby before his death. When the creditors wanted to take away her children, he believed in the God of prophet Elisha and went to him for assistance, but on getting to him she got more than what she wanted.
“Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.
“And Elisha said unto her, what shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.
“Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
“And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
“So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
“And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, there isnot a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
“Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.”(2 Ki 4:1-7)
After being instructed by the prophet, she did not stay idly by, she went out to borrow vessels from friends which would be used to execute what the prophet has said.
Assuming today, when some preachers go against borrowing things to make success, this may have misled the woman, because if she has been indoctrinated by such words that you do not need to borrow anything, then she would be looking at what the prophet has said from other perspectives and may not want to yield to what the man has said.
May I say this some preachers, because they have not passed through some situations in their lives, because all has been rosy for them, because everything they asked from the Lord he answers them, they will be using their basis to instruct their followers and be telling them that what they are doing is wrong, whereas if they had experience such before they would have a rethought and would not say such and indeed some of them would do more than those people who they are saying are doing the wrong things. Therefore, it is good for preachers and teachers of the word of Jesus to have experience in some areas lest one be misled in the world.
Many Christians have been misled by many preachers, because people look up to them as mini god, they see them as being right telling them things from the mouth of God, whereas it is not totally true.
Jesus Christ himself would have perfected the works of salvation from heaven, he is the all in all, but because he wants to have feelings of what we are passing through in the world he came to the world to die for us, to pass through and experience what we are experiencing so that there won’t be excuses from anyone on that day.
This woman yielded to the word of counsel from the Prophet and took a step, walking to the houses of friends, and some supposed unfriendly people to borrow vessels from the that she will use for what the prophet has said. She got those and used it and miracle happens.
Another example in this wise is the drought that happened during prophet Elijah’s days, the bible says he was instructed to go to a place where he would be fed. He puts his faith into action by walking to the place, he did not stay at a place and be expecting what would happen, after all God knows that he was in the world and ought to make provision for that, for feeding him without him taken steps because he was defending his cause.
But that never happened, God told him to leave where he was to another place and he obeyed left the place for where he was fed and was saved from the drought.
“And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
“Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.”(1 Ki 17:2-3)
There are lazy believers, God does not want us to be lazy. Some would spend all their days on the mountain or in some places praying and would not go to offices or their work places, yet they would be comparing themselves with some people, when they are blessed than they are, some would be saying it is because those people are using dubious means to be blessed.
Though, there are people who use dubious and ungodly means to possess all they have, it is not new, such also happened during the bible days but the truth is it is not all the people who are into such, some are practically working and God has blessed the works of their hands.
I believe in prayer, I also believe in work, because the bible says both works together.
“Yea, a man may say, thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”(Jas 2:18)
So as believers we need to also put our faith into action, after we have prayed, let us walk, let us take a step to where our prayers would be crowned with Godly answers.
The harp by many gospellers in this part of the world is “enemies”, “enemies”, “enemies”, yes there are enemies, but some of us have also become enemies to ourselves, our future because we failed to walk to where our prayers would be crowned, we failed to take a step, we said we are tired after praying and would stay indoors expecting manna to fall from heaven as it did in the wilderness even when manna fell in the wilderness, it did not fall into the Israelites rooms, everyone still left his or her abode to the chosen place to gather what they would eat.
As a believer in the Lord Jesus, I do hope this would ginger our hearts up, so that we shall match what we are praying about with our moments of faith. God expects that from us, he will not do that for us.
