The Last Bus Stop

Introduction Jesus used different things to explain what the world is to his disciples, he calls the world field, a place where farmers go to, to sow something on, and at another instance he called the world a market place. (Mat 13; 11:16) When a person is out of food stuff, he or she would go to the market place to go and buy those things. However, in the process of getting to the market place, if the person has no vehicle, he would go to the bus stop where he would board a vehicle (bus) to the market place.

When he was being transported to the market place he would pass through different bus stops on the road to the place but he would not alight from the vehicle because he has not gotten to where he is heading for, which is the market place, it is when he got to the final destination, the market bus stop that he would alight. Another example is when someone finishes for the day’s work at the office and the person is heading home, if he does not have a vehicle, he would walk to the bus stop where he would board a bus to his home. In the same vein he would not because some are dropping on the way and now dropped when he has not gotten to the destination for his house. Now, when he gets to that bus stop, he would walk to his house. However, for a person who has car, such a pone would drive through to the garage of his house which would be the final stop and drop- from the car to walk into his apartment. At the last bus stop of the world, we all get down from the vehicle that has been transporting us which is our flesh and walks out of our bodies, our souls would leave our bodies and walk into the world beyond, another world as stated by the Lord Jesus that there is another world to come. “… neither in this world, neither in the world to come.” (Mat 12:32) All of us in the world are on a journey headed back to the world to come, and the destination for each and everyone of us is the point of death. As the illustration stated above that some would come down on the road to the market or while returning from office, some people’s homes are near by the office and they would alight early while some would not alight until the last bus stop where the vehicle would turn back. The position that everyone gets down is the person’s last bust stop, for some it would come early while for another set of people it would in the middle that they would come down and for others it would be at the last. This means, that some would die early while some would die in the middle of their lives while for others they would live long and die at their prime old age. After getting down from the vehicle (bus) each person would walk to his or her houses. Some people’s homes are hell on earth while for some it is heaven on earth, and they do not wish to die again because they are enjoying their partners in all ways. As some people’s homes are hell on earth, this equally is symbolical of what would happen to some at the end of the world as they walk into the new world another world as Jesus puts it, some would walk into hell while for some they would walk into heaven, paradise, the place of bliss and enjoyment. Journey of Life As we all know that we are on a journey in the world, we know that journey has a starting point and an ending point. The starting point for the journey of our lives is the time when we are conceived by our mothers, when we are still within their wombs. This is because at this stage our soul has started to exist.

As the journey progresses, our mothers gave birth to us. However, at the fetal stage there are people whose fetus are aborted by their parents, some’s abortion is accidental at this stage those people have reached their final bus stop and that early. Some would die immediately they are given birth to; those people have reached their final bus stop at this time and they would walk to the next world to receive what they have worked for during those transient moments they spent on earth. As stated, that this journey starts from pregnancy and parturition for easy grasp until one breathes his or her last while in this bus called life that is conveying us to the last bus stop, some things usually happen on the way which include: stopping at other bus stops to drop or carry passengers; sleeping in the bus if the journey is long, eating in he bus, calling loved ones from the bus etc. 1. Stopping at Other Bus Stops: When in the buses, the bus would stop at other bus stops to carry passengers and or drop passengers. This means that there are phases in life when we learn some things, those things which we learn are like the passengers that the driver waits to carry at the bus stops. Those things we learn are being integrated into our lives. It is again at this stage that we take up a career, we get married, give birth to children among others. Another thing that usually occur at this phase is at this phase that we get to know God, because all of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of the Lord in the world. It is a time we get to know that name cannot save us, religion cannot save us, sacrifices among other things cannot save us, but what can save us is Jesus Christ. It is a phase when we decide for Jesus and his Christ. When deciding for Jesus it means we shall call him into our lives while we shall renounce Satan and its works by given our lives to Jesus Christ. In other words, we at this phase drop sin and embrace righteousness. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Rom 3:23) While continuing in this phase we like children continue to grow in the Lord and we shall drop those things that easily besets us ensuring that we become purified so that our hearts be cleaned for our master and God. 2. Refueling the Bus: If the journey is long or even if it is not long, there would be a time when the driver would enter the filling station to refuel the bus. For if this is not done, the vehicle’s fuel could finish on the way and that would be added problem if the filling station is far from where the vehicle’s fuel finishes at. Refueling the car or vehicle could be equated to the time when individuals talk to his God. Joan was fleeing from the presence of the Lord to another country and when trouble arose, he was called upon to pray unto his god so that the trouble be averted. “Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. “So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not.” (Jon 1:5-6) In the vehicle of life, there would be a time when an individual would call upon his or her god to arise and help on some situations. This is the time the vehicle is being refueled.

3. Passengers Could Fall Asleep: While traveling in a bus, the passenger could fall asleep. This though is not expected for the driver and therefore it is said, that when drivers are feeling sleepy, they should not drive. 4. Eating in the Vehicle: In this car as one journeys on, one could eat in the bus, but fast foods to eat in the vehicle. Some may have even prepared along some foods which they would eat while going on the journey. In the journey of life too, we are equally encouraged to dwell on the word of God, which is the bible as we have given our lives to Jesus Christ. He is the eternal word which we can dwell on. Jesus himself says, I am the bread of life. “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” (Joh 6:35) Are you hungry in the vehicle of life conveying you to your destination? Then feed on the word, feed on the eternal bread of life. 5. Calling or Talking to Loved Ones: Holy Spirit is the loved one with whom a believer’s life has been sealed until the day of Jesus. He requires that we continue to talk with him as we go on in the journey informing him of our movements. As we shall be informing the loved ones of our movements when traveling in the world so do God wants us to be communing with him through the Holy Ghost that is one of the reasons for which Holy Ghost has been given unto believers.

6. Overtaken: The vehicle which we are in could be overtaken by other vehicles, cars. Such vehicles that overtake us would get to their destination early, but this should not confuse us neither confound us because each of us have different destination we are headed for, in addition to being in different vehicle. Based on this we do not have to compare ourselves with someone else, we do not have to imitate someone neither envying some people for their progress but we should focus on our Lord for he is with us in the vehicle, forsooth he is the one driving the vehicle of our lives if indeed we are his’. “For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” (2 Co 10:12) Whether we are in the same discipline as our friend or in different disciplines we shouldn’t compare ourselves with others, we should not measure our progresses with someone else’s progress. What should be our focus is the Lord, for he has promised to see us through, and the apostle has said he that begins a good work in us shall finish the same. “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Php 1:6) 7. At the Last Bus Stop: When we all get to the last bus stop, this we shall do, and it is that we shall alight from the bus and walked to our houses. Even if our houses are that bus stop, we shall still alight from the vehicle and walked into the house. As stated before, the point of death is our last bust stop in the world. when we die we all get to our last bus stop whether we achieve what we have come to the world to achieve that does not matter to God, whether we achieved what we desire to achieve that does not move God neither does it move Satan, what concerns them is that we have gotten to the last destination the end of our lives and the next thing is that we all come down of the vehicle of life and walked in to our respective final abodes whether a place of bliss or a place of suffering.

Big Question That We Should Answer: The question that you and I must answer is where have I been working for? Where would I walk to after alighting from the vehicle of life that is carrying me? Would I walk into the place of bliss or walked into the place of sorrow and torments? “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” (Heb 9:27) It is very essential that you and I work to possess a place in heaven where no termite neither ants wreck havocs. “Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Luk 12:33-34) The last bus stop for all humans is the bus stop called death except those believers who would be taken off the earth when Jesus appears which is commonly called rapture are taken off, we shall all die. After we all come off the bus, we shall walk to our various destinations in the world to come which could either be place of bliss (heaven) or place of torments (hell) where are you working for? I in the strongest possible terms admonish you to work for the place of bliss (heaven) by repenting of your sins and accepting Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and savior now. This is the time you have you do not know what lies ahead of you a second from now, this is the time of your salvation, please do not postpone it again.
