Why Must it Always Be You
ÒWE YORÙBÁ (YORÙBÁ PROVERB)
Iwọ lána, iwọ loni, bí ẹkún apọkọjẹ
TRANSLATION
Its you yesterday, its you today like the cries of a woman who murdered her husband (or its always you like the cry of a woman who murdered her husband)
APPLICATION
It is a proverb of rebuking a person whose behaviour in the society is nothing to write home about, that the person needs to change. On another note it could also be a proverb of punishment if the person refuses to change.
Bibu was a lady working in Bibula company. She was employed as one of the securities in the company. Two weeks after securing the job, she started reporting late for duties. This prompted her colleagues to report her to the chief security officer f the company.
The chief security officer invited her to his office and talk to her to change, that all the excuses she was given were not tenable.
She changed for a week but returned to her former way of life the chief security officer could not condone her actions again and he sacked her, saying “is she alone? She is not the only female security officer we have in this company”
