Wife: A Blessed Vessel

Wife: A Blessed Vessel

Vessels

Wife in Hebrew word is “נשׁיםאשּׁה”, the Romanized form of this Hebrew word is 'ishshâh nâshı̂ym (ish-shaw',naw-sheem' is the phonetical spelling) while in Greek the word for wife is “γυνή”, gunē(goo-nay' as it is pronounced) which means female, woman, specifically wife.

Blessed in Hebrew is “בּרך”, bârak (baw-rak') which means to congratulate, praise, salute, kneel (down), bless. In Job 29:11 the word used for blessed is “אשׁראשׁר”, 'âshar 'âshêr (aw-shar', aw-share') which means prosper, happy, lead, relieve, bless (or blessed). In Psalms 1:1 and other places “אשׁר”, 'esher (eh'-sher) is the Hebrew word used for blessed and it means happiness. In Psalms 37:26 “בּרכה”, berâkâh (ber-aw-kaw') is used for blessed which means benediction, prosperity, pool. In Daniel 2:19, “בּרך”, berak, (ber-ak') is used for blessed which means to kneel.

In the New testament four Greek words could be found used for blessed and they are “μακάριος”, Makarios (mak-ar'-ee-os); “εὐλογέω”, eulogeō(pronounced as yoo-log-eh'-o); “εὐλογητός”, eulogētos, (yoo-log-ay-tos') and “ἐνευλογέω”, eneulogeō(en-yoo-log-eh'-o) which means well off, happy, fortunate, to speak well of, invoke a benediction upon, prosper, adorable, to confer a benefit on.

Vessel in Hebrew is “כּלי”, kelı̂y (kel-ee') while in Greek it is called “σκεῦος”, skeuos (skyoo'-os) which means implement, equipment, apparatus, something prepared, instrument, article, utensil.

Vessel in English means where something is poured (Acts 9:15; 2 Cor 4:7; 2 Tim 2:20-22). It is a container in which things are poured inside.

“But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:” (Act 9:15)

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” (2 Cor. 4:7)

Other meanings that could be found associated to vessels in the bible are the followings:

- It is being referred to as human body (1 Sam 21:4-5)

“And the priest answered David, and said, there is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.

“And David answered the priest, and said unto him, of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.” (1 Sam. 21:4-5)

- It could also mean male/female organ. 1st Thessalonians 4:4;

“That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;” (1 Th. 4:4)

From the above definitions we shall see that “blessed vessel means adorable container, a container that could be praised.” This invariably shows what wife as a blessed vessel means, a female partner of a man that is adorable, a female person that should be praised. This female person that should be praised, is not just anybody, as if to mean we shall go and handpick anyone from any place, no that is not what this means, it means a female person, a woman, not a baby, a pedophile female, but a woman. A lady that has attained menarche, a matured girl that has been associated with a man, a matured girl that is involved with a matured guy, a man and who has been involved with him for a while, years in who the man finds pleasure, in whom the man is always happy.

Having seen few things about this, we shall look at some of the things that could make a woman a blessed vessel unto the man, her partner that she has been involved with, recently and for a while.

In my article which called woman of excellence in our generation, I talked about helpmeet there, and the helpmeet as being shown from the Hebrew definition talks about woman (wife) being a mirror of the man, someone with equal strength but in opposite direction to that of the man is a woman. She is not a stepping stone, neither someone to be trampled upon, but someone who will view things differently because of her nature for that is how God has created her such that when the man is looking at something from a positive point of view, she would view it from the negative point of view, after this, both of them would discuss about this and they would come to a middle point to agree on what to do about the situation.

One author also talks about a woman being a savior, that what the helpmeet supposedly means is that woman is a savior. The author says the woman is a savior because through her children are being given birth to in the world. Women are those used to preserve humans from going into extinction that is how they are being viewed as savior. Above all the author says, through woman, Virgin Mary, the savior is being given birth to, through her the serpent’s head, which is Satan, could be crushed forever. That is why it has been disturbing seeing that some people choose to become homosexuals other than allowing for the continuation of the lineage of man. It mostly disturbing when we discover that some Christians allow for homosexuals in the church and even ordaining them in the church under the guise of human rights, nothing could have been associated with the kingdom of darkness other than this.

God has created us, humans, so that we shall fill the entire surface of the earth, but this would not happen when we allow for homosexuals to continue in the world. If homosexuals are allowed to progress, within a limited time, those homosexuals too would have exhausted themselves and there would be no one to pair themselves with again which of course would result in serious fighting and wars among the homosexuals and they would be killing themselves to get partners because as we know that when something is continually being removed from a reservoir without another being replaced it is a matter of time before the thing being taken runs out of stock.

What Makes Her A Blessed Vessel?

A woman becomes adorable container after she has fulfilled God’s requirements and standards to being adorable. If there is no set standard for being adorable, well this could go for every woman on the earth. But it is obvious that it is not every woman on earth who is adorable container, adorable woman. Let us see some of the attributes if fulfilled by woman that would make such a woman adorable container as being stated in the scriptures.

Attributes of Blessed Thing (Vessel)

We shall see here some of the attributes possessed by some things that would make them adorable among the people.

1. No Curse: Many of the substance on earth have been cursed. It is because of this that substances are not blessed before a substance would become blessed; the curses on those substances must be removed. Ever since the sins committed by our fore-parents in the garden of Eden, humans have been in the bondage of the devil, the accursed one. When one lives in an accursed house, such a thing is also indirectly cursed.

“Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!

“Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

“And, whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.

“Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

“Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.

“And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.

“And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.” (Mat. 23: 16-22)

Jesus here in is telling his followers the importance of the house containing something, if the house housing something is polluted, it should be expected that what would be placed inside the house would equally be polluted.

Therefore, as humans, having been associated with the devil when our fore parents fell to the serpent’s deception in the garden of Eden, all of us have been under some forms of curses. However, in the case of this woman, a blessed vessel, she has been freed from all forms of curses. Because she has been freed from curses, she becomes a blessed one, adorable one.

2. She Has Been Made Whole: Humans, males and females, are all polluted. We have been polluted because we have in us the genome of Satan, the devil. To get this genome off our spiritual persons that is why Jesus appears to take away the sins of the world. Jesus appears and shed his blood for mankind so that we shall all be freed and sanctified from this pollution.

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” (Joh 1:29)

It is by the blood of Jesus that we could be freed; it is by the blood of Jesus that we could be sanctified, that we could be made whole.

“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.” (Heb. 9:22)

This blessed woman has been sanctified by the blood of Jesus thus, she has become a blessed vessel.

3. Separated: This adorable vessel has been separated from her mother’s womb to be a blessing to many. She has been separated from her mother’s womb to be a blessing to generations as Jeremiah was separated from his mother’s womb to be prophet to the nations of the world.

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jer. 1:5)

Anyone who will be a blessed vessel would bring blessings to the generations of the world, people who see her would call her blessed for, so she is.

4. Anointed: the word anoint, anointed and anointing could be found to be written 161 times in the King James Bible.

The common word written as anoint in the Hebrew word it is “משׁח”, mâshach (pronounced as maw-shakh') which means to rub with oil on, consecrate. However, in the books of Ruth, second Samuel and Micah (Ru. 3:3; 2 Sam. 14:12; Mic. 6:15) we could find another Hebrew word used for anointing in those books and the word is “סוּך”, sûk (phonetical spelling is sook) which means to smear over with oil.

In the new Testament however, the following words are translated as anoint, “ἀλείφω”, aleiphō (pronounced as al-i'-fo) (Matt. 6:17); “μυρίζω”, murizō (pronounced as moo-rid'-zo) (Mar 14:8) and in Revelation 3:18, “ἐγκρίω”, egchriō (phonetical spelling is eng-khree'-o) is used for anointing. All these means to apply, rub on.

The common thing used to anoint the people in the bible is the oil, as we read in the book of psalms that I shall be anointed with fresh oil.” (Psa. 92:10b)

When this oil is poured on the substance or person the person or thing on which the oil has been poured on (anointed) would be consecrated and set apart for special use.

This blessed vessel is found to be separated for special purposes having been poured special oil upon. This therefore means that this woman has been anointed for special things, special projects in the world. Even if she may be doing the common things that people do in the world, she will be executing those things in a special way because she has been anointed. Anointing breaks the yokes, anointing on a person makes one stands out, anointing on a person makes one do something in a unique way.

5. Builder: This adorable vessel builds her own house unlike other women who will pull down her house. She exhibits the character of Jesus by being a builder, for Jesus builds his church, thus this woman builds her own house too.

“Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.” (Prov. 14:1)

Swine

6. She is Discreet: A woman without discretion is related to a gold in the swine’s nose by the author of the book of Proverbs.

“As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.” (Prov 11:22)

We all know how swine, pigs behave, that irrespective of what they are given, they would not mind going to the mud and dirty area to play, thus, when costly materials are placed on them with the view that they won’t use that to play in the swine, yet they would still use such things roughly. Such is how women without discretions are, no matter how beautiful they are, they would still rough handle good things bestow upon them, needless to say that they would be devoid of discretion, for they wouldn’t know how to handle something very well, they wouldn’t know how to give good counsels to their spouses, because all that they are concerned about is rough handling what they have.

However, this adorable vessel wouldn’t do that because she is not bereft of discretion, she uses the discretion well, she uses her discretion to bring goodness and good things into her home.

7. Answers Softly: This is not the kind of woman that speaks harshly to her spouse, she is a woman with soft words. Soft words the bible says turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.

“A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” (Prov. 15:1)

This woman by her soft words she builds her home, by her soft words she endeared herself and imprinted herself in the heart of her husband and family. Everyone loves her because of her soft words, everyone looks forward to having her in their company because they know when she is there the seemingly trouble situations would be averted by her soft words. Who cannot love a woman like this? Who will not call a woman like this a blessed one? I do not think there is anyone who will do that, because they know with her around things would be straightened, the valleys would be raised up and the mountains would be lowered.

8. She is Prudent: prudent is defined as acting with or showing care and thought for the future.

“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” (Prov. 22:3)

This woman looks into the future and protects herself and family against the possible trouble that she has viewed though they are yet to appear. Through prudency, the governments of the nations of the world could store some things for the future of their country people. This was what joseph did for the people of Egyptians by saving them from the seven years of famine that ravaged the world during his days.

9. She is Humble: this woman wins the heart of her love, and hubby over and over by her humility. The church is compared to wives and wives are expected to demonstrate humility as the church demonstrates humility before God.

“By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.” (Prov. 22:4)

By this means she increases the wealth and fame of her family because everyone wants to be associated with her.

10. Desires Good Name: in this age where anything goes, this woman does not belong to the group of people who subscribe to anything goes, she is the type who prefers good name far and above every other things in the world, as such she tries her best ensuring that her name is neither destroyed nor damaged in the society. To ensure this, she flees anything that appears to be evil.

“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold” (Prov. 22:1)

11. Maintains Good Name: after attaining or getting good name within the society, she maintains the good name. Some people after getting good name for themselves within the society would not maintain that good name, but this adorable woman wouldn’t do that, for he knows that the process of attaining something is less as compared to the process of maintaining those things you have possessed. She thus, cherishes maintaining what she has possessed, she gives everything she has to ensure that she maintains what she has possessed for herself, the good name.

12. Fears The Lord: This woman exhibits another rare gift and it is the fear of the Lord. In all she does she exalts and demonstrates the fear of the Lord such that people could call her the heir of the Lord because they could see the Lord through all she does.

“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” (Pro. 8:13)
